Accepted at What.CD

Last night I went for it and when through the interview process to get an invite to What.CD. I heard good things about them so I thought what the heck. Well I answered all the questions and I guess I answered them right so now I’m a member.

So that makes 3 private trackers I’m in. :)

Webkit hates my site!

I just downloaded the Webkit nightly last night and tried it out. I came to the surprise that it replaced all my text with gibberish.

After I saw that I submitted a bug report because I am not going to sit down and take my site being slaughtered like this!

Opinions!

Every day I read up on the current news the internet has to offer and here are a few things that I think.

Marijuana (Cannabis) Legalization/Decriminalization: I’m contently seeing articles floating around that are trying to get people to support the legalization/decriminalization of cannabis. A recent one I have seen was one saying that 40% of Americans supported it. Well you know what? 40% of Americans are stoners! Every fucking argument I have seen is that doing said action and taxing the sale of it would significantly increase money to the government and it would be better for everyone to just do it. Also comparing cannabis to cigarettes saying that the health effects of them are much worse then cannabis so it should be legal to put that up for sale too. Well I have a better idea! How about we just ban cigarettes too? But no, we cant. The cigarette industry is so massive and has so much money, has been around for so long, and has so many lobbyists that this act would fail. Cannabis is a psychoactive drug and that is the only reason people want it; because it makes them feel good. Learn to feel good without needing drugs people.

The Economy: We’re fucked :)

Valentine’s Day

So today is Valentine’s Day. Hurray?

Today I went out and bought my suite that I’m going to wear for my senior project. It cost like $360 since I needed to get it tailored and all that fun stuff. Its going to be done Monday so I’m going to go pick it up then.

Other then that I had no girlfriend to spend with today with so I just sat at home and had some good sushi for dinner.

Ad testing

If you have visited this blog recently you may have noticed some ads. This is because I have been doing some tests with ads to see if I’m able to get any money from these things. So far I have made $0.. I think this is because the site’s target audience do not click on ads or have them blocked but I thought I would test it out.

Quote – Rowan Atkinson

To criticise a person for their race is manifestly irrational and ridiculous but to criticise their religion – that is a right. That is a freedom. The freedom to criticise ideas—any ideas even if they are sincerely held beliefs—is one of the fundamental freedoms of society. And the law which attempts to say you can criticise or ridicule ideas as long as they are not religious ideas is a very peculiar law indeed. It all points to the promotion of the idea that there should be a right not to be offended. But in my view the right to offend is far more important than any right not to be offended. The right to ridicule is far more important to society than any right not to be ridiculed because one in my view represents openness – and the other represents oppression.
-Rowan Atkinson

Ticket is Deferred

So today I skipped out on school to go to my court mitigation hearing. I was then given two choices for my ticket. I could get it reduced or I could get it differed and I don’t plan on getting another ticket in the next year so I choose the one that would remove the infraction from my record.

Past few days have been CRAZY

Most of this has to do with Vlexo. But what was happening was that it all started out with the vlexo.com domain expiring. This led a lot of us to believe that Jon was not paying some of the bills. So, so people dont freak out I sent a mass email out telling people to use a imountain alias for the Vlexo forums. Other then that we thought we were all fine but I got to wondering what else he hasnt been paying for..

Jon had not been online for quite some time so I went over to Wiredtree and submitted a ticket asking about the payment plan for the server and how its being paid. A day later I got a reply that shocked me:

It looks like the payment has been sent via PayPal, and it is not automatic, from what I can tell. It looks like there is an invoice that is 7 days past due right now. This will need to be paid today to prevent interruption of service. If you have any other questions, please, let me know.

This news was completely new to me and I didn’t not know he was this late on the payment. So my next reply was asking for an extension on the payment as there was NO WAY that we could find someone to pay it in one day or to get everyone on the server to backup their account in that amount of time. WT’s response was:

I do not think we can keep the server open another week without payment. We can give you one more day or so to make arrangements for payment. Please, keep me updated on this issue.

I was given one extra day to get everyone on the server to back up. So I mass mailed the entire server that Vlexo was closing and they need to make a backup. It caused a mass panic as suspected. But I kept talking to WT and I managed to get it extended to 4 extra days. That was enough time to find a solution. So I had WT use their info on Jon to call him and tell him his server is going to be shut down and he needs to pay his bill. They then managed to get in contact with him and he came online and renewed the domain and paid the server bill.

That is the story of the almost destruction of Vlexo.
